Put a little Broadway boldness into your morning routine with this elegant, invigorating perfume. A blend of zippy ginger, bergamot and Sicilian red mandarin oils combine to shake you awake and make you feel like dancing. Then come softer floral notes of mimosa absolute and Kenyan geranium oil for a cool down when you need to rest your feet. Final touches of grounding oakmoss and soothing sandalwood give you quiet confidence: it had to be you, Ginger. Made in United Kingdom.

Quite popular in kitchens and medicine cabinets for thousands of years, the root is soothing and invigorating and its oil diffuses an incomparable fragrance.

Ginger (Zingiber officinale) is a plant, and although its flowers and leaves are pleasantly fragrant, it is what lies underground that so excites people, from its native lands in East Asia to the rest of the world. Indeed, the juicy ginger root is highly concentrated in fragrance and flavour, and for millennia has been consumed fresh, dried, grated, powdered, honeyed, syruped, candied and whatever else can be done with it.

Has a unique, sweet but pungent and peppery scent.

Its warming fragrance is said to alleviate the mood.

Stimulates the blood flow, reviving the skin and scalp.

Soothes sore muscles and body aches.

Has an astringent effect on the skin.

Ginger is well-placed in herbalists’ Hall of Fame. It’s been used as a medicine by all civilisations that have been able to grow or purchase it. It was considered by many as the miracle solution to any health issue and was part of many healing concoction recipes. It is still widely used today against nausea and digestive disorders. A notable selling point - somewhat a bit forgotten these days - is that ginger could be an aphrodisiac thanks to its stimulating properties, whether used externally or internally. Modern science hasn't settled on this subject yet, but, at Lush, we never forget the root when creating our Valentine's Day range!

Bergamot is a citrus fruit grown in Southern Italy and is known for perfuming Earl Grey tea. It yields a delightful essential oil that smells like ‘sunshine in a bottle’.

The bergamot tree doesn't like extremes. On the contrary, it enjoys a well-balanced environment and is consequently known as the most delicate citrus tree. The soil must be just right (not too dry, moist or chalky), and the weather must be temperate (not too hot, cold, or windy). If those conditions are met, the tree grows yellow-green fruits whose appearance and taste are a bit like an orange and a lime combined.

Bergamot oil soothes the skin and scalp and contributes to balance sebum production while keeping bacteria at bay.

It makes the hair shine!

Its unique scent profile makes it very versatile. It can complement and enhance sweet, floral, fruity, fresh, herbal, or warm perfume just as well.

When inhaled, its elevating fragrance clears the mind and encourages a sense of well-being.

Since 2005, Lush has sourced bergamot oil from a family business in Reggio Calabria, southern Italy. This dedicated page explains more about our supplier and the scent profile of bergamot oil.

Bergamot is featured in many Lush products with various scents! It would take too long to give you a complete list, but here is a selection of products if you are into citruses and a collection of scents that lift the mood (in our opinion)!

A fragrant floral wonder! Geranium will lift your mood and treat your skin.

Pelargonium graveolens, a leafy shrub native to South Africa, isn’t the popular window-box geranium but is part of the same big family of Geraniaceae. It is commonly called rose geranium or sweet-scented geranium in reference to the strong floral scent diffused by its incised and velvety, fragrant leaves.

The scent is sweet and rose-like, it lifts the mood and can relieve anxiety.

The oil is toning, antiseptic and astringent, which helps clear and mattify the skin while balancing sebum production.

Rose and geranium oils have very similar aromatic profiles and some chemical constituents in common depending on the variety. This is why they are often used together, enhancing and supporting each other's scent.

Lush purchases geranium oil from Egypt and Kenya. The type grown in Kenya is of a premium quality known as Bourbon, and it is grown sustainably, without the use of chemicals.
