As the Goddess of Spring once again becomes Queen of the Underworld, softening date syrup and soothing pomegranate juice won’t trick you out of hydrated skin.

Made in Canada

What's in it for you?

- Pomegranates seeds produce an antioxidant juice when pressed. They're a symbol of the Underworld in Greek mythology, but don’t worry, we put them in for their soothing properties, not to open a portal to the realm of Hades.

- Milky ground almonds create a gently exfoliating texture, helping you buff away any skin squames caused by autumn weather.

- Glycerine helps to add hydration by locking moisture into the skin.

Leaving the world Lusher than we found it

- Bring it back! It pays to recycle with us. Return five clean, participating plastic Lush empties for a FREE fresh face mask or return one for $1 off your purchase.

- This self-preserving product is formulated to stay fresh and effective without added synthetic preservatives.

- Made with fully traceable Spanish almonds pollinated by native bees.

How to use: Generously apply (with a brush if you have one). Leave on for 10 to 15 minutes, relax and then rinse off.

How to store: Store with the lid closed and in the fridge (between 2°C/35.5°F and 8°C/46.5°F).

In cosmetics, an exfoliator (also called exfoliant or scrub) is a material or a substance that helps remove the dead skin cells from the skin's surface.

The human skin renews itself regularly, in cycles of 5 to 6 weeks on average (although this changes with age). New cells are created in the deepest layers of the epidermis and work their way to the skin's surface. Even though they usually flake away on their own, they sometimes stick around for too long, clogging the pores and giving a dull and tired appearance. This is when an exfoliant comes in handy. Coarse materials buff and cleanse the skin perfectly. Some substances, like enzymes or natural acids, even have the properties of eating dead skin cells or dissolving what binds them together.

For decades, the cosmetic industry has been using microbeads to scrub the skin. Unfortunately, these are little plastic bits and they are so tiny that they can escape from sewer treatment plants and end up in the rivers, seas and oceans. They have been proven to contribute to global plastic particle water pollution, significantly damaging our planet’s wild aquatic life. Thankfully, microbeads were banned from rinse-off cosmetics in many countries in the late 2010s. Regardless, Lush has always preferred to use natural, biodegradable materials instead of microbeads such as enzyme-rich fruits, ground nuts, shells, bamboo stems or seeds. They are just as effective options!

There are many different syrups: ones you drink, ones you glaze on your pancakes, ones you pour in your batter. At Lush, we love them all.

What is common to every kind of syrup? A very high sugar content. Dates, maple, agave, sugarcane, corn… all these plants contain natural sugars. Their fruits, sap, kernels, or fibres are processed, generally by simple boiling and filtering, in order to concentrate these sugars until a dense and velvety liquid is obtained. Another way to make syrup is to mix pure sugar with water and infuse the sweet liquid with fragrant flowers, leaves or bark. However, most of the time, it’s done with artificial flavours and colourants.

Their high sugar content gives syrups humectant properties, meaning that they attract moisture from their surroundings and bring it to the skin and hair.

They contribute to the sweet, tantalising and gourmand aura of some of our products, sometimes even adding to their scent and texture.

They can give a delicious taste to oral and mouth care products.

We purchase a lot of different syrups, in small or large quantities, so the country of origin will depend on the product, stocks, and the Lush manufacturing site where your product was made. For more information on each syrup, search for them in our ingredient hub or have a look at this selection:

The jasmine flower is a delight for the senses! Its scent is powerful, sensual and enticing.

Jasmine belongs to the large olive family (Oleaceae). It is native to tropical regions of Eurasia, and Oceania. The jasmine flower is white or pale yellow, star-shaped and extremely fragrant. They open at night to release their sensual scent. Thousands of jasmine flowers are processed through solvent extraction to produce just one kilogram of jasmine absolute, which is a thick, dark orange liquid with a rich, floral aroma.

Jasmine absolute has an earthy floral aroma which provides a rich, deep note to products and perfumes.

The overall scent of a jasmine flower is seductive and heady; it entices and delights the senses.

The flowers can be used to soothe the scalp. They can also be used to rejuvenate and brighten the skin.

Jasmine was brought to Europe in the 16th century and became a staple ingredient in the perfume industry. Every August, a jasmine festival is held in Grasse, France, during which revellers scatter jasmine water and flowers over celebrating crowds and the town comes alive with music, events and visitors from all over the world.

Lush gets jasmine from many different places around the world such as India and Egypt. The flowers are ideally picked at sunrise when they are the most fragrant. Clays leave the skin cleansed, soft and mattified like no other.

Clay minerals are tiny soil particles. No other mineral has been used as much in human history as clay. From growing plants to making ceramics, from engineering applications to cosmetics, clays seem to have limitless potential.

Absorbs excess oil (sebum) and water (sweat) into itself.

Makes a gently buffing paste when mixed with water.

Gives a pleasant, smooth texture to body and face masks.

There are many types of clay. Some are completely natural, like kaolin or rhassoul mud; some are mixed with colouring pigments, like rose clay. Some are made from a combination of several sedimentary clays, like fuller’s earth. Although they have common properties, each has its own specificities in terms of absorption power, mineral content, or granularity. Depending on these little differences, Lush inventors will choose one or the other to perfect their products’ formulae.

To learn more about the origin of each clay and their benefits, browse your Lush product’s list of ingredients and click on the ones you are interested in. This should take you to a page full of details!
